The present invention relates to an Euglena gracilis mutant having enhanced ability to produce paramylon compared to a wild type, and to a method for producing a beta-glucan polymer paramylon using the same. The Euglena gracilis EK (Accession No.: KCTC18746P) of the present invention is the euglena mutant which does not synthesize chlorophyll, and has superior paramilon production ability compared to the wild type. Therefore, when using the novel Euglena gracilis EK (Accession No.: KCTC18746P) of the present invention, it is possible to effectively produce the paramylon (beta-glucan polymer), a high value-added material.
