More than 100 publishershave agreed to deposit epubications in the UK national archive as part of a voluntary scheme to rpeserve digital content. This is good news for Chris Smith, Secretary of State for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport who proposed a voluntary code of practice between the publishing industry and the six legal deposit libraries in September 1999.
