The mechanism consists of a disc drive (70), a lead-in roller (2) mounted on a plate (5), a hinge-mounted clamp (3) to lock or free a CD disc on the turntable, a guide (10) and drive mechanism to operate the lead-in roller and loader/unloader mechanism. The lead-in roller (2) is of larger diameter at the edges to grip the sides of a CD, while avoiding contact with the centre region. Blocking plates (82) prevent further insertion of discs when a disc is already loaded. The guide mechanism (10) moves position under drive from a gear wheel, causing a pin (80) located in an angled slot (15) to actuate the plate (5). ADVANTAGE - Low profile mechanism; movement of insertion mechanism raises blocking flap to prevent further insertion of CD when CD is already present.
