PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system for a playing machine that adopts an infrared ray for a communication medium so as not to cause a communication fault to other systems and incur a communication fault from the other system using a radio wave for a communication medium. SOLUTION: In the system where communication is made between a host computer 20 and at least two playing machines A, B via at least one repeater 23 by using an infrared ray for a communication medium, when communication is disabled between the repeater 23 and the specific playing machine A, the repeater 23 transmits an infrared ray including an ID signal to identify the other playing machine B and a signal to call the specific playing machine A to search for the playing machine B whose communication is available. When it is discriminated that the communication of the playing machine B with the repeater 23 is available, the repeater 23 relays the communication of the playing machine B so as to attain infrared ray communication between the specific playing machine A whose communication is disabled and the repeater 23.
