摘要

Secretion is a cellular process fundamental for homeo-stasis and biological responses. Importantly, defects in secretion are known to give rise to diseases such as diabetes, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. During exocytosis granules within the cell dock and fuse at the site of specialized fusion pores in plasma membranes to release contents. However the process of exocytosis is uncertain and a number of structures at the membrane that support the organelles, such as the secretory granule and the fusion pore, have been proposed.
