摘要

Ichthyapus insularis, new species, is described from the intertidal of Ascension Island. It differs from its widespread Atlantic congener, /. ophioneus, in its vertebral number and tail length, and from all other Ichthyapus in its vertebral number, body proportions, and preopercular pore condition. The identity of/, acutirostris Brisout de Barneville (1847), the generic type, is aligned with specimens from Japan.
