In the 1970s and 1980s the key differentiator of most of organisations was achieved through the adoption of lean and efficient production methods.Higher productivity coupled with fresh thinking about creating value-chains by intellectual leaders such as Michael Porter led to the creation of super-manufacturing corporations such as GE, Ford. Sony and Honda. A whole new enterprise-wide culture based around resource planning in the manufacturing and delivery process emerged.
