Phase equilibria of oxygen-bearing aromatic compounds, hydrocarbons and water mixtures are of essential interest in many processes using feeds originating from biomass. The strong non-ideal thermodynamic behavior of these systems sometimes results in immiscibility with both water and alkanes.
