Mecanoo's 'impressive and bold' Library of Birmingham has bagged three out of four 'special awards' in the 2014 RIBA West Midlands Regional Awards. As well as receiving one of the eight regional accolades, the library won the region's Building of the Year, while Birmingham City Council took home the Client of the Year Award for its role on the £189 million project. Patrick Arends, an associate at Mecanoo, picked up the Emerging Architect of the Year Award for his part in the scheme.
