The decision to scrap controversial plans to flatten the Red Road tower blocks as part of the 2014 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony has been welcomed by the profession.rnRIAS secretary Neil Baxter said he was 'glad that common sense has prevailed'.rnHe added: "The public reaction was unequivocal and right. Dynamiting these towers during the ceremony was a daft notion. Now, perhaps they can be demolished with more respect for all those who once lived there.'
