摘要

Architecture critics Jonathan Meades and Owen Hatherley have hit out at a decision not to list a Brutalist, oil-fired power station in Hampshire. Meades said English Heritage's failure to recommend for listing the 50-year-old Fawley Power Station overlooking Southampton Waters on the south coast was indicative of the organisation's 'dismal tendency to judge a structure on its use rather than its aesthetic qualities'. Reacting to EH's statement that 'there was little evidence the practice [Farmer and Dark] was well-regarded' and that none of the firm's buildings had been listed, the TV critic and author told the AJ: 'So if none of their buildings have been listed it follows that this one should not be listed? This is a truly captious argument.
