The output index of food industry amounted in June and in the first half-year 2003 in comparison with the similar periods of 2002 to 105.3% and 104.3%, respectively, and the output index of the flour-grinding and combined forage industries equaled 103.5% and 101.7%, respectively. In the structure of the output of foodstuffs, the output of protein-containing products (cheeses, whole-milk products, sausage products) is steadily increasing and the output of carbohydrate-containing products (sugar and baked products) is reducing. Thus, the growth of incomes of the population, outstripping the inflation, has resulted in the increased purchasing power for food. At the same time, in July 2003 in comparison with the previous month, in food industry, a reduction of the value index of entrepreneurial confidence was recorded from 2% to (-3%).
