Labor market issues are central to international trade in the eye of the public. Accordingly, the perceived linkage between trade and jobs plays a prominent role in formulating trade policy. It comes as somewhat of a surprise, then, that the academic literature has been slow to rigorously address the interaction between labor markets and international trade in a manner consistent with the concerns of both policymakers and the broader public. A key exception over the years has been the work of Carl Davidson and Steven Matusz. This book brings together in a single volume their body of work on this topic since the early 1980s.
