As part of the study program (EVACOHT) led in collaboration with MBDA, TSA and AIA, ONERA measured the properties of composites with organic matrices usable for tactical missile structures and radioelectric windows. The objective of this study is to analyze and compare the performance of the materials with regards to feasibility of implementation, whether moulded by compression or RTM manufacturing process, and of certain physical and mechanical properties at room or high temperatures.Following an overview of the state of the art and a previous assessment of high temperature materials, it was apparent that polyimide resins are the best products owing to their thermal stability, but that their processing would be restricted to the press or auto-clave, and be costly. Only one polyimide product was in the end selected, the Japanese resin PETI 330 and its prepreg Upilex AD from UBE Industries.
