摘要

We present the results of PL measurements on Ni~(6+) heavy ions irradiated ruby samples of Indian origin at different fluence. PL spectra taken for pristine ruby and its two irradiated samples at room temperature show R_1, R_2, N lines and a broad band in spectra. The increase in intensities of these features in irradiated rubies with increase of Ni~(6+) ions fluence is discussed. Observed structural changes and modifications on surface of pre- and post-irradiated rubies with Ni~(6+) ion by atomic force microscopic technique are reported.
