The new multi-pole wiggler station MPW6.2 at the SRS is specifically designed and constructed to perform combined small-angle scattering, polycrystalline diffraction and absorption spectroscopic experiments using synchrotron X-rays. The delivery of a high quality X-ray beam of concentrated flux with a low bandpass is essential in order to satisfy the scientific requirements for the study of in situ materials processes and kinetic systems (e.g. crystallisation and/or nucleation). To achieve this, the beamline has the necessary optics to focus both vertically and horizontally, mono-chromatise and collimate the radiation from a multi-pole magnetic lattice in the SRS. In order to determine the quality of the delivered user beam, measurements have been taken, on the focused beam profile, photon flux, wavelength bandpass (purity), energy and intensity stability. These characteristics have been compared with calculated results.
