On the basis of the paired t test for differences in means, no statistically significant differences were found between the Anton Paar Alcolyzer and SCABA methods for the determination of alcohol in beer, happo-shu (low-malt beer), and nonalcoholic beer. On the basis of the paired t test for differences in means, the Anton Paar Alcolyzer method resulted in significantly higher real extract results than did the SCABA method for beer, happo-shu, and nonalcoholic beer. The repeatability coefficients of variation for the determination of alcohol and real using the Anton Paar Alcolyzer ranged from 0.1 to 1.7% and 0.1 to 0.6%, respectively, and were judged acceptable. The reproducibility coefficients of variation for the determination of alcohol and real extract using the Anton Paar Alcolyzer ranged from 0.5 to 4.4% and 0.3 to 1.6%, respectively, and were judged acceptable.
