The Concrete Society has opened its first overseas branch, the Concrete Technology Institute (CTI), in the United Arab Emirates. The President of The Society, David Ball (above left) and the chairman of the founding committee of the CTI, Abdel Razak Dajani (right), signed a memorandum of understanding to ink this historic event for the local concrete and construction industry. The local CTI is carrying the same mandate as The Society, to deliver much-needed training, education, guidance and research works by providing a common platform to the entire industry. A non-profit organisation, CTI will be owned by the local industry through membership. The founding committee has already attracted industry heavyweights such as BASF, CEMEX, Envirocon, Lafarge, National Cement, Reem Readymix, Sika, Unibeton, and Xtramix Concrete.
