As part of its commitment to the UK's construction industry, the college has secured a £14m package to further enhance the facility - which is surrounded by a rich construction heritage. The new campus is less than a mile away from where Joseph Aspdin created his Portland cement business; the college plans to celebrate Aspdin's innovative work when naming the new building. Within the Faculty of Higher Education, a range of higher education courses are available as an alternative to university, including civil engineering and surveying. It also runs two Higher Level Apprenticeships - one in Construction and Built Environment (sustainability) and one in Facilities Management - which deliver university-equivalent, work-based education at an affordable price.
