Piracy has been flavour of the month for the past few years, so do we need yet another book about it? Often times no, but in this particular case, yes we do. A lot of rubbish is written about piracy, so it is useful to have a book that is both historical and contemporary; that uses published data with an understanding of the flaws in its collection; and perhaps just as important, is also based on field work and interviews, rather than a trawl of the existing secondary literature.
