This book explores a missing connection between international maritime law contained within the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 (LOSC), and the significance of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) to security at sea. The importance of freedom navigation through the EEZs by naval forces globally is a key point made by Kraska. His Naval War College and US Navy background has clearly exposed the writer to the practical challenges raised when various states choose to make unreasonable claims to local marine areas.
