Consistent with the editorial scope of the Australian Journal of Maritime and Ocean Affairs, the biennial Coast to Coast conference series provides researchers and practitioners of oceans and maritime affairs an opportunity to present papers on recent research and to provide an analysis of current trends and issues. It is valuable that researchers and practitioners presenting papers at Coast to Coast have the opportunity to submit papers for peer review for possible publication in this journal. This brief overview is intended to provide a background to Coast to Coast, probably Australia's only national conference to embrace the full spectrum of coastal, maritime and ocean issues.
