摘要

Welcome to this Edition of Architectural Science Review. These papers add to our understanding of the importance of the relationship between space, form and process in the application of architectural science. Bjorn Sandaker and Arne Eggens published a book in 1993, The Structural Basis of Architecture', which discusses the relationship between building structural systems and architecture ideas. Further later research by Bjorn Sandaker, Arne Eggen and Mark Cruvellier in their book (Sandaker, Eggen, and Cruvellier 2011) takes this a stage further. They explain at one level we have the conceptual and spatial aspects of architecture, which are often shaped by the mechanical and environmental aspects of engineering systems. Inherently, this can set up a 'duality' in design.
