This study models indoor cooling and airflow induction effects of five patterns of chilled wall panels using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation. The goal was to identify an optimal cooling pattern by analysing cooling performance and comfort effect. The cooling effect of zebra stripes was applied to the configuration of five patterns of chilled wall panels, which were then analysed using CFD simulation and ranked for cooling response time, temperature distribution, air-current direction and velocity. The comfort level of each pattern type was calculated using an effective draft temperature index. The most optimal pattern was then identified according to its cooling performance and comfort effects. When compared to a non-patterned panel model, the pattern-type panel model created a micro-eddy convection effect which affected all indoor air currents. The cooling performance and the comfort analysis suggested the vertical pattern type as the most optimal pattern for cooling performance.
