An experimental volatilization chamber is presented which allows for full mass balance studies after application of ~(14)C-labeled compounds to plants and/or soils. The design of this chamber allows for the control of environmental parameters which influence the metabolism and volatilization of pesticides; either standardized climatic conditions, or measured and recorded outdoor scenarios can be used. This paper provides the results of chamber studies using the pesticides fenpropi-morph and parathion-methyl, these results illustrate the repro-ducibiliry, exactness and with the example of parathion methyl the transferability of the data to field studies.
