A variety of models are now available in the field of marine fishery resources evaluation and prediction, and there is a need to manage and maintain these models efficiently. Conventional methods of model management are generally to embed them within the programs as parts of the applications, and these suffer from the poor ability to be shared and flexibly used. This project explores the usefulness of Model Base System for model management. Model Base System for Marine Fishery Resources Evaluation and Prediction (MFMBS) proposed can be utilized to manage these models. With this system, users can (1) classify and maintain a large number of models, (2) generate new models efficiently, (3) modify existing models conveniently, (4) perform quick report and forecast of sea and fishing conditions, and stock assessment and forecast of fishery resources, and (5) select appropriate models for analysis. The concept, composition and functions of the system are put forward, and its overall framework and applications are presented. Finally, the results are discussed and the conclusions are drawn.
