Mathematical methods can be used as a tool for studying submarine relief which is presented ad digital elevation model (DEM). Data about relief could be obtained with multibeam sonar, which provides detailed bathymetry data. Set of mathematical methods, which combines statistical, spectral and structural analysis, is used for interpretation of relief and determination geomorphic zones of different origin. The set of mathematical methods especially match for studying of continental slope relief, having submarine canyons. No additional data, besides detailed bathymetry and of general geological information about a test area is need for the initial stage of study.
