A small research aircraft specifically instrumented to provide measurements of air-surface exchange recently flew in three field campaigns off of the North Carolina Coast. High-fidelity measurements of the three dimensional wind component provide the basis for the estimates of momentum and sensible heat fluxes. Investigating the coupling of these fluxes to sea-state is accomplished through measurements of sea surface wave profile provided by an array of three nadir pointing highspeed laser altimeters. A 36 Ghz radar scatterometer complements the laser array to provide estimate of surface roughness.
