Association between SeaWiFS chlorophyll a concentration (Chl) and NOAA AVHRR sea surface temperature (SST) images and the anchovy (Engraulis ringens), sardine (Sardinops sagax) and jack mackerel (Trachurus murphyi) catch rates of the purse seine fleet of the northern Chile are explored. It conclude that anchovy shows a more coastal distribution than sardine and jack mackerel, and it's found in the frontal zone of the upwelling regions and it's associated with more high chlorophyll values than the other species.
