The noise associated with a number of communications receivers contains a significant multiplicative element. While it is well known that minimum bit error rate occurs for matched filter reception of signals corrupted by additive white gaussian noise (AWGN)n the application of the matched filter algorithm developed for signals corrupted by AWGN to signals corrupted by multiplicative-noise is far from optimal.
