摘要

Application of electron beam process is particularly attractive for butt welding of high thicknesses components. As part of the welding nuclear industry research programme, an electron beam weldability study has been carried out both on 21/4Cr-1Mo (A387 gr 22 cl 2) and A508 steels in 180 mm thickness. Tests which have been performed on the CEA/CEREM electron beam facilities showed good compacity of the joint as well as satisfactory metallurgical properties. The mechanical properties fullfil standard RCC-M requirements for 21/4Cr-1Mo, as for A508 steel though its lower hardenability. Those results show the good high thickness electron beam weldability for both steels.
