The risk assessment of mining projects is directly related to the possible failure in estimating,rnand as estimates are made from sampling results, this activity should be done in a judicious andrnplanned manner, to avoid surprises at the start of project operation. Pierre Gy's (1995) samplingrntheory addresses the issue of sample representativeness and indicates that only the certainty thatrnthe sampling procedure was performed with quality may result in samples being recognised asrnrepresentative. To validate the representativeness of samples from sampling boreholes selectedrnfor studies of mineral processing, the team of geology resource assessment of VALE has proposedrna methodology based on the use of statistical analysis tools, which in addition to considering thernspatial distribution of these samples in deposit, considers whether they are representative of thernpopulations studied, allowing the geologist to make a quick analysis of sample representativeness.
