The benefi ts of fi ne size separation in magnetite concentration are detailed focusing on publishedrnresearch from various iron ore producers. Basic principles of fi ne sizing and advancements inrnscreening technology are addressed. A chronological review of research is used to show the evolutionrnof fi ne sizing applications in the industry, starting with studies that demonstrated the benefi t ofrnusing fi ne screens to produce consistent lower silica concentrates, followed by improvements inrnfi ne sizing equipment that have made effi cient screen classifi cation in ball mill circuits practical.rnCase studies are used to demonstrate how positive sizing with screens can be used to signifi cantlyrnshift concentrate 'grind/grade' relationships.
