A review of the control system designs of expendable launch vehicles is preseted terms of their flexibility, based on a seies of launching experimences in Japan. The equations of motion are formulated for both lateral and longitudinal dyhamics of the flexible vehicles. Aerodynamic loads casuded by wind during the atmospheric flight are described in conection with the trajectory planning. Mode analyses are carried out for launch vehicles, follwed by time responeses to the flight environment. Stability analyses for the lateral and longitudinal vibrations of launch vehicles are presented with a special empphsis on POGOs.
