In realizing future space ctivities such as construction and operation of the space station, maintenance and repair of the oriting facilities such as satellite and space platofm, and exploration of moon and planets require some key technologies beside technologies needed to launch communication and rremote sensing satelites. Those are (1) approaching an orbiting spacecraft (rendezvous docking) (2) task execution in orbit or orbiting s paccecraft (rendezvous docking) (2) task execution in orbit or planetary surface (robotics) and 93) returning from space (re0entry and landing). This paper introduces how Japan is developing these technologies, especially rendezvous docking and space robotics.
